Tool ownership, methodology and sources

The background behind these tools: who maintains them, how results are calculated and how to report a correction.

Created and maintained by

These tools are created and maintained by Henry Lõiv, the web developer behind DSGNBYHL. The same maintainer is responsible for the interface, calculation logic and published corrections.

How calculations work

Each calculator explains its method, assumptions and the rules it uses. Salary, VAT and third-pillar calculations apply rules for the selected year or date. Working-time calculations use your chosen schedule and Estonian public holidays. Read the individual tool's limitations alongside its result.

Third-pillar contributions and tax-benefit limits

The third-pillar calculator distinguishes the contribution limit from the potential tax benefit. It uses your annual income, personal and employer contributions, and available income tax. The calculator includes a worked example, limitations and Estonian Tax and Customs Board sources; it does not forecast fund returns.

Sources and updates

Tax rules link to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board; working time and holidays link to official guidance and legislation. Parking and parcel comparisons cite the city or carrier terms. Each tool's source date identifies when the cited material was checked. Rules for a new year are added after checking them; supported years and dates are visible in the tool.

How results are checked

Automated tests cover calculation logic, including rounding, date boundaries and invalid input. Examples include comparing gross-to-net salary calculations and checking shortened working days. Before publication, checks also inspect initial page HTML, language versions and links. Worked examples let you repeat a calculation using the same settings.

Files, inputs and privacy

Calculator computations and PDF, image and text processing run in your browser. Tool inputs are not included in analytics events. The site uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. Personal-code validation runs in an isolated browser document. Recently used stores tool names; time-zone settings are saved when you choose to save them.

How to report an error

Send the page address, selected year or date, example inputs, and the expected and actual results. Example data helps reproduce the issue. If a rule appears outdated, include an official source link where possible.
